photo of D. Lynn CainD. Lynn Cain is the author’s pen name. She lives with her husband Ken in Chicago and is currently a marketing director at a professional services firm. She is a former air traffic controller and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh. The author has traveled extensively and has also lived in Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.

She tells this story of her family’s saga in the late ‘60s from her perspective as a teenager in Avondale, Arizona - a rural community twenty miles west of Phoenix.

“I hope that my readers understand that social isolation was a pivotal character in our story,” she says. “Like any teenager back then, my knowledge of what was going on in the world—and my place in it—was largely controlled by my parents and the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite.”
